staffuniformsRodgers and partner Narelle Craig had received regular requests for trend-focused uniforms and accessories from their hospitality clients, and that’s how their latest range of wait staff uniforms, Cargo Crew, came to fruition.

“I realised it was time to do something different and create Cargo Crew to fuse a clever mix of fashion and fun,” said Rodgers.

“We felt it was time we introduced a fresh dimension to what is currently available,” added Craig.

Cargo Crew’s collection includes denim aprons, shirts, pants, blackboard nametags, bow ties, neck scarves and more, and Rodgers says there are three key reasons why hospitality venues should put serious thought into what their staff are donning during work hours.

cantonpoliceOn Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, you will see Officers of the Canton Police Department (CPD) sporting a “new” look.  Since 1987, Officers of the CPD have worn grey shirts and navy trousers.  On Friday, the uniform worn by Officers will change to midnight blue trousers and shirts.

When Chief Robert Merchant arrived, he conducted interviews with all employees.  He heard numerous concerns voiced about the color and quality of the uniform.  Chief Merchant formed a committee comprised of employees from various work groups.  He wanted employees to be involved in the decision-making process.

Chief Merchant was pleased that a group of employees worked together and were able to present a uniform combination that all employees could agree on.  In addition to the color change, the Committee changed the color of the shoulder patch and all badges/name plate for Officers will be silver.  The design of the shoulder patch will remain the same reflecting the tradition of the CPD.

princetonpoliceOfficers in the united Princeton police force will wear the blue uniforms that Princeton Borough officers wear now, but with a new patch designed by officers from both municipalities.

The new patch depicts a Revolutionary War soldier fighting in the Battle of Princeton,  includes the date 1777 and the words “knowledge, honor, integrity service.” The patch also includes the years the two police departments were founded (1886 for the Borough and 1927 for the Township) and “Est. 2013″ to mark the Princeton consolidation.

The governing bodies of the two Princetons approved the spending plan for the new uniforms at a joint meeting Monday night. Borough Administrator Bob Bruschi said both police forces currently spend up to about $30,000 a year on new uniforms. By choosing the Borough’s uniforms and just replacing the patch instead of coming up with a brand new uniform, the town will save money, he said.

southwestIt’s a good week to be a flight attendant aboard Southwest Airlines, and it's not just because there's less stress during the boarding process—bags fly free of course. Flight attendants—at least the ladies—are scoring some new uniforms.

The days of hot pants and go-go boots are long gone, but it also looks like the khaki shorts might be taking a hike as well. Southwest Airlines just announced that they’re phasing in some navy blue dresses, as well as some cardigans and a snazzy new scarf. It doesn’t appear that Southwest went out and collaborated with a name brand designer like some other carriers, but we can’t fault them for their choice of trench coat, blazer, or black boots.

englandpoliceThey have been iconic figures on streets across the UK for almost two centuries.

But the English bobby is set for a makeover. Police on the beat are to swap their trademark dark blue jackets in favour of high-visibility yellow versions for the first time.

They are being introduced in a bid to make officers easier to spot on the street especially during protests and riots.

The waterproof coat is currently only used by officers who respond to road accidents or who ride on bicycles or motorbikes.

They can also be worn over the normal coat.

New Houston Police Department Uniform May Strip 'Space City' Off Shoulder Patch Print E-mail

hpduniThe Endeavour's short visit, while celebrated, was a sharp reminder that Houston lost out on displaying any of the retired space shuttles it helped guide through NASA's 30-year program.

And now, the shoulder patch that reads "Space City" could also be stripped, at least from a prominent uniform.

The design discussions have been underway for months at employees' request, according to Houston Police Chief Charles McClelland. But one suggestion is drawing a lot of attention after the huge crowds that gathered to say goodbye to the last space shuttle to ever fly to Houston.

If there is any doubt that Houston isn't still enthralled by the shuttle and NASA, consider that by HPD's own estimate, 200,000 people poured into Ellington Field to see a shuttle for the last time, as Endeavor paused on the way to its permanent home in Los Angeles. And the fact that Texas didn't get a retired shuttle is still a sore spot for some.

girlscouts"Ding dong." In February, this sound may mean the other side of the door may hold a girl in a brown, green or blue uniform seeking to sell some cookies. But not just any cookies: Girl Scout Cookies.

For 100 years, Girl Scouts have been a part of American life, and their ubiquitous cookies are a familiar part of the organization's history in Fort Morgan, as well.

While Girl Scouts haven't had a strong presence in Morgan County throughout their century-long span, there have been organized Girl Scout troops here since the 1930s, and they have been quite active over the years, including in 2012.

Now, Fort Morgan Museum has a new special exhibit in the Lower Level Gallery celebrating the organization's lengthy history, both nationwide and locally.

bodyworncameraBody worn digital video cameras were on display at Tuesday’s Advocates Helping to Educate Against Drugs Coalition Meeting.

In July, the A.H.E.A.D. Coalition awarded the Crawfordsville Police Department a mini-grant to purchase 27 of these cameras.

Officer Matt Schroeter was the guest speaker and demonstrated how the new cameras are used by CPD. Schroeter spoke about how he’s been summoned to deposition hearings, and suppression hearings and trials. He left many times wishing he had cameras out in the field, “That trial would have been so much easier if the encounter was video recorded,” Schroeter said.

The cameras are the size of a pen and can record up to 90 minutes of video and audio, which can be used in court. An officer can activate the camera by the touch of one button or it is also voice activated. The camera and microphone can clip onto to almost any standard police uniform and blend in. Video recording protects officers and the general public. Each video has an internal time clock and date time stamp recorded onto it.
